In an unpublished story of mine set in Bloomington, the protagonists go to a Greco-Bactrian restaurant (on Fourth Street, of course) where the day's special is veal-stuck ram.

After the Indo-Greeks, Menander changed the menu and moved to Sixth Street. Vegetarian…chapatis, and palak paneer.

Who would have thought that cafes in Samarqand would have signboards in French and Italian?
