What sort of elitists like to eat at the Golden Arches? That was my first take. I guess I am not as culturally plugged-in as these gorillas.

It is very early in the morning for me, and my brain is probably operating at well below its peak, but for the life of me I cannot see any mention of the Golden Arches other than in David L.'s comment — David, please put me out of my misery and tell me what leads you to believe that the gorillas are dining at the Golden Arches ?

Philip: He's making a pun on "MAC-favoring," abetted by the all-caps font of the cartoon.

Unless I'm imagining that one or the other is normally in all caps … the pun stands, though.

Ah, thank you. I have to confess, I had no idea what the "Golden Arches" were/are, and had to look the phrase up before posting, but I was equally fazed by the "MAC-FAVORING ELITISTS" in the original, because "MAC" for me (regardless of case) is an abbreviation of "Macintosh" (i.e., a raincoat) whereas I always think of (and refer to) the computer as an Apple Macintosh ,,,

What would a day be without Philip Taylor professing bafflement about some topic?
