Advanced techniques

I'm in the process of composing a "cheat sheet" of DSP techniques for ling525, so today's xkcd is right on time:
The mouseover title: "A blow from Emmy's Cutlass of Variations will transport the dragon to a corresponding symmetric position in the Noetherworld."

So all advanced math theories are the result of a successful D&D play session? This is great news for me and my fellow gamers! :-)
[(myl) Or maybe it's the other way around — successful D&D sessions are the result of advanced mathematical methods? ]

I love the course outline – it makes me wish I was 22 again (might there be a book in the making, eventually? and might signal detection theory make its way into it?).
But I may be a little out of touch – a year ago someone asked me if I was an anti-vaxer, and I replied "Why should I be? Those were some of the best computers ever built."

I showed this comic to a friend who's a math grad student and she said "yeah, that sounds about right."
