No wonder she's unimpressed — that markov-chain solution is Old Technology. The idea goes back to Claude Shannon's "series of approximation to English" in 1948, and implemented algorithms date at least to HAKMEM in 1972, Travesty and Dissociated Press in the 1980s, etc.. A more up-to-date approach would use LSTMs or similar.

    Most Twitter bots are still of the Markov-chain variety, because there are easy-to-use tools for building them. (Well, there are some of the even simpler Mad Libs flavor as well.)
