As my daughter would insist on pointing out, "Doctor Who" is not the name of the fictional character. He's just The Doctor.

Although, to preserve a good laugh, one could also point out there was a pair of movies in the 60s where the character actually was named Dr. Who.

Apparently the good Doctor also discovered Ebola.

The Zimbabwean Cricket Board have just discovered ebola in their team. However, they still don't have ebatsman or efielda.

@Ellen K., there's also a Third Doctor serial, "Doctor Who and the Silurians".

@Ken: That title was probably a production error. However, over much of the series, the character was "Doctor Who" or "Dr. Who" in the credits.

Good! More support for the virtue of using "that" for people.

I can confirm that Doctor Who* did indeed go bowling (although apparently in San Diego rather than in Brooklyn).

*the show, in the persons of three leading actors and the showrunner

He was credited as "Doctor Who" rather than "The Doctor" for years in the original series.
