In case you missed it — Radio Garden:
Radio Garden invites you to tune into thousands of live radio stations across the globe.
By bringing distant voices close, radio connects people and places. From its very beginning, radio signals have crossed borders. Radio makers and listeners have imagined both connecting with distant cultures, as well as re-connecting with people from ‘home’ from thousands of miles away.
Radio Garden is based in Amsterdam, the Netherlands. Our dedicated team is hard at work tending to the garden on a daily basis. Planting seeds for the future and keeping the weeds at bay.

I leaves out a lot of Americn radio stations. It doesn't include KULY Ulysses.
[(myl) And (nearly) all PRC stations seem to be missing — there may be some geopolitical or legal reason for that. As for missing stations like KULY, it's not clear to me whether this is because they didn't yet add the "seeds", or because they need a permission from the stations that they didn't get, or what. You could ask them.]

I've had a lot of fun playing with this, including finding a French Country Music station in Quebec.

When I began to read this post, the first thing that immediately captured my attention was the fact that, although Radio Garden is based in Amsterdam, the circle on the globe at the top right is centered on the great Indian city of Chennai (formerly Madras), capital of Tamil Nadu, and I wondered about that. I doubt that its location is random. Could it have something to do with the fact that Chennai is one of the major software centers in India?
[(myl) If you go to the Radio Garden website, they find your apparent location from your IP address, and center the circle there. I thought that a circle centered on Philadelphia was boring, since I know all the local radio stations, so I explored a bit, and found a nice Malayalam music station in Chennai, and listened to it while composing the post. (Yes, I know that Tamil is the dominant language in Chennai, but this station caught my eye and my ear, and I once worked on Malayalam many years ago, so I can even pretend to recognize a few words…)
Plus the city name reminded me of Chennai Express, a movie that I very much enjoyed watching on a plane trip from India, where the in-flight movies were heavily stocked with Bollywood material.]

Pretty thin on the ground in huge swathes of China. Nothing at all in Inner Mongolia, Xinjiang or Tibet. Rather surprising, however, is the fact that you can listen to the control tower (ZBAA tower) at Beijing Capital Airport….

Glad to have it confirmed that the circle is indeed centered on Chennai and to know the reason why.
