Pickin' up on those features also

Today's Doonesbury celebrates Sarah Palin's way with function words and inflectional affixes:

There are also a few references to content words, like progress as a verb, and even to actual content, like not blinking, or God opening a door.

But the main themes of the verbal caricature are various morphosyntactic features that have been prominent in our extensive Sarah Palin coverage here at Language Log: g-dropping ("Palin's tactical g-lessness", "Empathetic -in'"), demonstratives ("Affective demonstratives", "Affective demonstratives for everyone"), and clause-final also ("Also outside").

Anyhow, in keeping with Doonesbury's usual gentle touch with satire, BD's enthusiasm for Gov. Palin's prospects in 2012 is clearly genuine.
