Like some others, I have an (empirically unsupported) impression that features of Donald Trump's speaking style have changed recently. I first noticed this in listening to his 8\/8\/2024 press conference in Mar-a-lago<\/a> — which seems rather different from e.g. his 7\/21\/2015 rally speech in Sun City<\/a>., or the many other samples in \"Past posts on Donald Trump's rhetoric<\/a>\", 1\/5\/2024.<\/p>\n

At some point before long, I'll provide some numbers to support or undermine this impression. Meanwhile, the comments section is open for your reactions.

Here's a short sample from the 8\/8\/2024 press conference:<\/p>\n

Most dangerous period of time I've ever seen for our country.<\/span>
\nWith that being said uh<\/span>
\nwe have somebody that<\/span>
\nhasn't received one vote for<\/span>
\npresident and she's running<\/span>
\nand that's fine with me.<\/span>
\nBut we were given<\/span>
\nJoe Biden<\/span>
\nand now we're given<\/span>
\nsomebody else<\/span>
\nand I think frankly I'd rather be running against the somebody else.
\nBut that was their choice, they decided to do that because uh<\/span>
\nKamala's record is horrible.<\/span>
\nShe's a radical left<\/span>
\nperson at a level that nobody's seen.<\/span>
\nShe picked a radical left<\/span>
\nuh<\/span>
\nman<\/span>
\nthat is uh-<\/span>
\nhe's got things done that he's-<\/span>
\nhe has positions that are just not- it's not even possible to believe<\/span>
\nthat they exist.<\/span>
\nuh<\/span>
\nhe's going for things that<\/span>
\nthat nobody's ever<\/span>
\neven heard of.<\/span>
\nHeavy into the transgender world, heavy into lots of different worlds<\/span>
\nhaving to do with safety<\/span>
\nhe doesn't want to have<\/span>
\nborders he doesn't want to have walls he doesn't want to have any form of safety for our country.<\/span>
\nHe doesn't mind people coming in from prisons and<\/span>
\nneither does she, I guess, because she's not-<\/span>
\nshe couldn't care less she's the border czar.<\/span>
\nBy the way, she was the border czar<\/span>
\na hundred percent<\/span>
\nand all of a sudden for the last few weeks she's not the border czar any more,<\/span>
\nlike nobody ever said it.<\/span>
\nAnd I just hope that the uh<\/span>
\nmedia becomes<\/span>
\nmore diligent, more honest,<\/span>
\nfrankly, because if they're not going to be honest it's going to be much tougher to bring our<\/span>
\ncountry back.<\/span>
\nWe have a very very sick country right now.<\/span><\/p>\n
