Three classic posts

« previous post | next post »

Over the past week, there have been several thousand new readers of a series of posts from five years ago, apparently because they were referenced in a popular place.

"Dinosaur intonation", 8/28/2021
"Hummed 'I don't know'", 8/29/2021
"More 'I don't know'", 8/31/2021

There are some resonances with a conference paper from 52 years ago — "Prosodic form and discourse function", CLS 1974. Unfortunately Ivan Sag's kazoo performances from the original conference presentation have not been preserved.

Sorry for off-topic. I'm seeing reports – though none from authoritative sources – that Prof. Mair has passed away. Can we get some clarification here please?
