A nice blend from Get Fuzzy:

(Click on the image for a larger version.)

As I understand it, ergonomic itself is a sort of blend, based on Greek ἔργον "work" and an analogy to economic.

Hmm, I'd say the -nomic part comes more from nomos on its own terms, not through economic. The Greek word nomos can mean "law" or, more loosely, a set-up or arrangement. "Economics" is just a transliteration of "oikonomia," the Greek word which refers to the day-to-day running of a household (or metaphorically, the administration of the Roman empire). The -nomia here also comes from nomos, and oikos can refer to both the physical house and the household members as a group.

Too bad it features the now-cliché silent-to-simulate-pregnant-pause second panel.

Ah, yes, the tried and true Penultimate Silent Panel. One blogger tracked their over-use diligently for several years. Unfortunately, he stopped posting over a year ago.

"Unfortunately, he stopped posting over a year ago."

He didn't stop. By not posting, he's simulating a pregnant pause.

Perhaps the pause finally gave birth.
